To migrate buddy list information, I recommend you simply do a copy-paste from Server A's vpuserinfo into Server B's vpuserinfo. This should work just fine...especially with pre ST7.5 clients.
To push out client settings for pre-ST7.5 users you can write a script/package (via SMS, Notes Button, etc) that changes the fields in C:\Program Files\Lotus\Sametime Client\connect.ini to match those of your new server:
[Login]
Server=serverA.company.com --> Modify to serverB
Server Port=1533
We are performing both procedures on an environment with 60,000 users and haven't seen many issues at all. Obviously, part of our migration process modifies our NAB and LDAP directories to reflect the user's new home server.
